sometimes soul shows

When I was little, I desperately wanted to play the violin.
SO very badly.
My mother said that I needed to start with the piano first - so that I could read sheet music, and understand the theory behind it.
5-year-old Kira thought that was dumb.

I took piano lessons, and you know what? At first I hated them.
It took a few years, but I grew to absolutely love the piano.
I waited rather impatiently for 5th grade, when I'd get to play the violin in school.

Well, it finally rolled around, and I started to play. My parents even bought me a lower-end violin to practice and learn on. And you know what? After three years, I was a whiny little monkey and I quit, because I didn't sound like a professional yet. How dumb is that? Ooh! New bucket list item -
76. Re-learn/get better (much) at playing the violin

Anyway, that brings me to the real reason for this post.
Meet Lindsay Stirling.

It is people like her that make me remember why I wanted to play in the first place - I wanted to be able to make music like this.

Maybe someday I'll be able to! For now, I'll stick to jamming on the piano, singing my lungs out, and pretending that I can play guitar. :)
I know that Christmas is over, but always a good time to celebrate Christ's birth, so here -

She is incredible, right? Super inspiring, too. Check out her story here.
While you're there, check out her blog, too! It's grand!

  1. My parents said I needed to take piano lessons for one year before they would let me take bagpipe lessons! Awesome post about that violinist!
